The 2024 Football Instagram Rich List: Who are Instagram’s highest earners?
Despite the emergence of other social media channels, Instagram continues to be among the most popular for brands and influencers to have partnerships and that includes footballers too.
With top footballers like Lionel Messi, Virgil Van Dyk and Kylian Mbappe playing in front of audiences of millions of people every week, these top athletes have become social media influencers in their own right with brands fighting to work with them.
Most of us will follow our favourite footballers on their social channels and wonder just how much they’re earning when they partner with brands - so our team sat down and crunched the numbers.
Analysing Instagram engagement rates and using pricing tools, we analysed the Instagram accounts of the top 50 footballers in the world to establish who is earning the most from sponsored posts - looking at the number of followers, engagement rate and the resulting cost per post. The players were then ranked from the highest cost per post (earning the most) to the lowest cost per post (earning the least).
Top Five Highest-Earning Football Players On Instagram
1. Cristiano Ronaldo (@cristiano) - £1,537,855 / $1,960,000 per post
Cristiano Ronaldo is renowned for being one of, if not the most well-known footballer on the planet, amassing a staggering 617.2m followers on his Instagram account alone.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is no stranger to partnerships with big brands, as in 2016, the Portuguese captain became the third athlete in history to sign a lifetime brand deal with Nike - joining the likes of LeBron James and Michael Jordan.
Ronaldo has come out on top of the 2024 Football Instagram Rich List, potentially earning over £1,490,000 per sponsored post.
2.Lionel Messi (@leomessi) - £1,239,794 / $1,580,000 per post
Lionel Messi has regularly been in the news of late - from winning his first-ever World Cup in November 2022 to following in David Beckham’s footsteps by making the switch to the MLS.
Like his Portuguese rival Ronaldo, Messi has battled for the title of GOAT in world football so it’s not hard to see why brands are fighting for space on his social media platforms. Messi has known brand deals with giants Adidas, Pepsi and Mastercard, to name a few.
Battling at the top, Messi is potentially earning up to £1,240,000 per sponsored post making him the second-highest earner on the Football Instagram Rich list.
3. Kylian Mbappe (@k.mbappe) - £277,532 / $353,423 per post
Being one of the world’s hottest football talents, Kylian Mbappe has never been far from the headlines. The French starlet signed a contract extension at PSG last summer, keeping the World Cup winner at the club until at least 2026.
With stellar performances for both club and country, Mbappe now has some of the world’s biggest businesses bidding for his signature on brand deals including Nike, Oakley and Hublot.
Mbappe finishes third in the Football Instagram Rich list earning up to a possible £277,532 per sponsored post.
4. Bukayo Saka (@bukayosaka87) - £233,756 / $297,600 per post
Having come through the Arsenal academy, Bukayo Saka is a fan favourite at Arsenal having signed a new multi-year deal back in May, keeping him at the club until 2027.
The Londoner has also put in some impressive performances for his country and with the Euros just around the corner, brands are keen to put pen to paper on Instagram deals with Saka. The Arsenal man already has a lucrative brand deal with New Balance, having released a limited edition boot with the footwear brand back in September.
Saka appears as the only British footballer in the top 10 highest earners from Instagram with an estimated £233,756 per sponsored post.
5. Mohamed Salah (@mosalah) - £158,299 / $201,673 per post
Having played an instrumental role in bringing the first Premier League trophy to Anfield, Mohamed Salah is a hero in the city of Liverpool (or certainly the red side).
Back in December, Salah became the fifth player of all time to score 200 goals for The Reds having scored the equaliser in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Like Messi, the Egyptian footballer partners with a range of global brands including Adidas, Pepsi and Gucci resulting in him ranking fifth in the 2024 Football Instagram Rich list.

The 2024 Footballers’ Partners Instagram Rich List
Over the years, the private lives of footballers have become more public thanks to social media platforms and the stars sharing more candidly about their private lives.
Now, due to their high status, the wives and girlfriends of some of the world’s top footballers have become influencers themselves, with huge brands wanting to appear on their feed.
Our team have also looked at the Instagram accounts of some of the most popular current (and ex) WAGs of footballers to establish the WAG’s Instagram Rich list for 2024.
Top Three Highest-Earning Footballers’ Partners On Instagram
1. Georgina Rodriguez (@georginagio) - £138,762 / $177,130
Girlfriend of Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Rodriguez tops the Footballers’ Partners Instagram Rich list seeing the influencer power couple dominate the rankings across the board.
The pair reportedly met in Madrid in 2016 and have gone on to have two children together. Rodriguez is an Argentine-born Spanish social media influencer and model who boasts an impressive 55.7m followers on Instagram and earns an estimated £138,708 per sponsored post.
2. Antonela Roccuzzo (@antonelaroccuzzo) - £97,560 / $124,599
Propelling to fame after her marriage to Lionel Messi, Antonela Roccuzzo finishes second in the list as the influencer power couple dynamic continues at the top of the list.
After initially announcing their relationship back in 2009, Messi and Rocuzzo have been married since 2017 and have since had three sons together.
As well as being an ambassador for UNICEF and The Special Olympics, Rocuzzo has also worked with several huge brands including Stella McCartney and Adidas.
Boasting over 39.1m followers, Rocuzzo earns a possible £97,560 per sponsored Instagram post.
3. Martina Stoessel (@tinistoessel) - £52,662 / $67,252
Now ex-girlfriend of the Argentine Atletico Madrid player Rodrigo de Paul, Martina Stoessel finishes third in the list, despite no longer being with de Paul.
Since releasing a joint statement back in August announcing the end of their relationship, the fellow Argentine has gone on to enjoy success in her personal career as a singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and model.
Amassing over 21.1m followers on Instagram, the Argentinian could earn an estimated £52,666 per sponsored post.

Methodology
Our team gathered a list of the world’s top footballers and most famous wives and partners. We then used an Instagram Engagement Calculator in order to determine the average number of likes per post of each Instagram account before using an Instagram Money Calculator to determine how much each footballer or footballer’s partner could earn per sponsored post.
